Social Psychology
In order to be a social psychologist you will be entering a field of psychology that has to do with how people interact and how surroundings of people have certain affects on the way that they behave. Social psychology is a very important and significant field of psychology because it is the study of how we come to react to other objects and people. The study of the social behaviors a common person is very intriguing because everyone person is different from the other. Through doing different research projects and studies you will be able to see how people come to having some generalized reactions to certain stimulators.
The studies you will be doing as a social psychologist will be with a certain goal in mind. Depending on what type of human reaction you are looking to have a better understanding of; your research will relay on that particular goal. Social psychology is used so that people are able to comprehend and come to a better understanding of each other. Humans have a constant longing to better understand each other and wish to understand what the other person is thinking and the reasoning behind that thought process. Through social psychology you can understand those aspects a little better. A common reason why people want to be better acquainted with social psychology is because they want to know what attracts and repels other people. Through learning this they will then be able to choose specific things they can do to attract others to themselves.
A social psychologist can see this just from viewing the constant media efforts and the entertainment industry with all of the love stories or high school dramas where people are constantly trying to win the affection of others within the storyline. You will have to be observant of the specific situation and what aspects of the situation trigger certain emotions in order to decipher the final end result. People are constantly trying to scrutinize those around them to grasp a better understanding of their attitudes and behaviors. Social psychology is the study hoping to save you time by providing you with a specific answer to those questions. Through being a social psychologist you will realize many intricate details about the human behavior. You will be able to more clearly see how certain situations make people act differently.
The theories you develop while researching different aspects of human behavior through social psychology will be an interesting process that can involve self evaluations as well. People are constantly being thrown into social circumstances where they spend a great percentage of their time. Social psychology will also involve a great deal of examining self concepts and degrees of perceptions. Basically, humans develop their own self concept through the many different social relations that we have. As a social psychologist you will evaluate and do research upon those different social interactions. These studies are needed in order for a clearer view of the human mind and how it is applied to the entire world surrounding us.
