Due to the intimate nature of certain practices of psychology, many psychologists, especially those in counseling or therapeutic specialties, must be aware and knowledgeable of federal regulations that are placed on various practices of psychology. Psychology is a very social and interactive practice, and many psychologists are very open and social people by nature. There are certain specialties of psychology that are predominantly research based as well however, and these specialized psychologists often do not interact with clients or patients very often at all. Even within these areas of expertise, there are several federal regulations that need to be abided by. Much of the funds necessary to conduct the proper research and experimentation are from grants and contributions from the government, and in order for psychologists to keep these allowances, federal regulations must be adhered to.

There are certain types of psychologists that are constantly exposed to various clients and patients on a daily basis. Other forms of psychology require a combination of interacting with patients and doing research, yet other psychology specialties are strictly research and experimentation based. Federal regulations differ according to which specific field of psychology that is in question. The journey of becoming a professional and licensed psychologist is one that is lengthy and exhausting, one that requires a fair amount of concentration, dedication, and passion. Achieving the prominent degree of a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D.) or Doctor of Psychology (Psy. D.) is an accomplishment that not many people are able to undertake.

A violation of federal regulations in a field such as psychology can be tremendously detrimental to a psychologist’s career and reputation. No matter what field or specialty of psychology that is being practiced, an acute and perpetual acknowledgement of federal regulations is recommended for any psychologist. In cases of counseling or school psychology, psychologists are often working closely with people who trust enough to open up and divulge often personal information in order to receive assistance and guidance. On the other hand, in cases of research and developmental psychology, psychologists must be careful not to violate any federal regulations through immoral and unethical behavior that may include impractical, cruel, or unjust experimentations and research methods. In the former case, psychologists must be especially careful to uphold the doctor-patient confidentiality clause and must be careful of what they say to a patient or client at all times. Though it is not a very common occurrence, there have been incidents of clients or patients serving a psychologist with a lawsuit of malpractice, and even if the psychologist happens to win the case, the negative connotation that comes with a lawsuit is never a good thing for business.

Federal regulations are put into place not just for the field of psychology, but for all other fields of study and businesses as well. It is important to uphold, preserve, and enforce the integrity of our nation to ensure that unethical and immoral practices are kept to a minimum, or even removed completely some day.

In the technology era that we live in today, information flow and digital data communication is virtually instant, and all sorts of information are available to society. The use of wireless devices and gadgets is seemingly taking over written publications and periodicals; however this is not to say that there is no valuable information available on the internet. Actually, for those who are tech savvy and know exactly where to look and how to get there, all sorts of information is available on the internet. Still, there is no real substitute for the good old scholarly journal or psychology article that holds important information to those willing to read it. Psychology is a very general topic of study, and psychology articles can range from virtually anything. There are several publications that are put out every month by any given publication company and psychology articles can help with a variety of subject matters and have the potential to improve the quality of life. Whatever the specialty of psychology article may be, there is bound to be some facts and tidbits that can prove to be useful, maybe not immediately, but definitely in the long run.

Psychology articles are available both online and through physical publications, and both of these mediums have their specific advantages and disadvantages. Psychology articles that can be found online have the obvious benefit of being extremely convenient and easy to search for and read. Anybody with a computer and an internet connection can quickly pull up any psychology article with a simple query on any one of the several search engines available on the web. The potential downside of finding psychology articles online is the true credibility of the content. Because the internet is such a vast and limitless virtual world, anybody can decide to launch a web site, and there is no regulation of what can go up on someone’s website. It is recommended that you use good judgment and caution when looking for psychology articles through the internet. A published psychology article in an official publication such as a psychology journal or magazine however, is more likely than not to be a lot more credible and written by a professional and or licensed psychologist. The obvious disadvantage of getting advice and information from a psychology article through a publication is the lack of convenience and ease that the internet offers. Many journals and magazines are released on a monthly basis, and waiting for the next month’s psychology articles can seem like a drag when the speed of the internet is at your fingertips with just a click of a mouse.

Finding information in this technology era that we live in today is not a problem at all; rather, it is the credibility and validity of the information that may present a problem. Psychology articles are meant to help individuals and offer sound advice and assistance. There is nobody that knows you better you however, and if you feel that a given psychology article can’t help you at all; chances are you’re better off using your own common sense and wise judgment.

In essence, psychology, the study of the human mind, is one that may seem impossible to fully conclude and finalize. The mind of a human being is capable of extraordinary feats, and we as a society have been firsthand witnesses to many of the occurrences that were once thought impossible. There is no limit to what humans can really achieve, and the constant, day to day developments and advancements in technology and medicine serve as testimonies to our progressions and evolutions as an intelligent species. Psychology can be used in a variety of different ways, and psychological therapy is only but one of the many methods used by psychologists to help a fellow human being. The mind is a more powerful thing than many people realize, and the psychological aspect of any given individual’s attitude will greatly affect the physical state. A psychological state of mind can really truly be beneficial or detrimental to an individual’s health and wellbeing, and psychological therapy is a method of healing that is growing more popular among the general public. Because of the strictly psychological aspect of this treatment method that does not require overly strong, prescribed drugs that induce negative side effects, psychotherapy, or psychological therapy, is being recommended more often by doctors and psychiatrists, especially for those clients who do not illustrate extreme symptoms of a severe mental disorder or condition such as bipolar disorder or schizophrenia.

Psychological therapy can used for a variety of ailments that a particular client or patient may indicate. Many, if not all, psychologists know just how powerful the mind can be, and it has been clinically proven that a healthier psychological state of mind will lead to a healthier physical wellbeing. Psychological therapy is a very popular option among parents for their children, as many parents are opposed to exposing their child to very concentrated prescription drugs for an extended amount of time. Though these prescription drugs have been federally approved and haven been proven to be effective, the benefits of healing through psychological methods are quickly gaining ground and many doctors and physicians are using psychological therapy as a first option for many of their patients who present psychological problems. Many recent cases serve as strong proof that the expensive prescription drugs are not necessary at all, and with a few sessions of psychological therapy with an experienced and adept psychologist, many common everyday psychological issues can be worked out through a natural and healthy way.

If you happen to be someone or know someone who is currently seeing a psychologist, ask about the benefits of psychological therapy rather than psychological drugs. More likely than not, the former option will be the healthier, not to mention cheaper, option that many psychologists will recommend. In severe cases of mental disease and disorder however, a combination of psychological therapy and drugs will be required. But for everyday cases and relatively minor issues, a few sessions of psychological therapy should be more than enough to work out any psychological issues.
